The maps of electromagnetic fields were created to allow to obtain information about reached levels of EMF in a simple way to make them available to the general public.
The maps were made with the resolution of 2 m x 2 m so as to provide sufficient detail and to have a greater explanatory power. They were created using terrain and building models. Inside the buildings, the value of the electric field was not taken into account because the field distribution inside buildings can be very complex (reflections on walls, furniture and floors etc. can lead to complicated interference patterns with many local minimum and maximum, which can also vary, for example due to presence of people).
Resulting maps of electromagnetic fields were processed by using a geographic information system (GIS) - ArcView. Below each EMF map there is a note indicating the year, for which the calculated EMF intensity results are valid (e.g. State as of: 2014).
The maps of electromagnetic fields available on the site (www.emp.vuje.sk) allows the use of superstructure functions such as displaying value of the electric field in the selected location, Street View, special interest location search, as well as displaying transmitters used in the calculations an data from completed measurements and monitoring. These functions are based on the available Google tools and therefore their functionality may be different in the future, depending on changes implemented by Google, Inc. Manual for the page is available in a separate document.
